Kreyts shows advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Ads appear only on content pages — the feed, topic pages and canon pages. They are not shown while you are signing in or up, resetting a password, onboarding, composing, or managing your settings or your masks, and the advertising script is not loaded on those pages at all.
Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can read Google’s own explanation of how it uses cookies in advertising at How Google uses cookies in advertising. You can also opt out of personalized advertising from participating vendors at aboutads.info/choices and the Network Advertising Initiative.
When an ad loads on a content page, Google receives the following. This is the complete list, and it is deliberately narrow:
doubleclick.net domain. The first of these is named test_cookie and exists only to check whether your browser accepts cookies at all.Google does not receive your account identifier, your email address, your handle, your session, or any identifier for a mask you hold. No value that links an ad request back to your Kreyts account is sent to Google or placed in the page for it to read.
Stated plainly, because the distinction matters: advertising on Kreyts can see which page an anonymous browser visited. It cannot see who you are. Masks — the topic-scoped pseudonyms Kreyts offers — are not exposed to advertising in any form. The link between a mask and the account behind it is held server-side and is never present in the page, so it is not something an advertising script is in a position to read.
Since 16 January 2024 Google has required publishers to collect consent through a Google-certified consent management platform, integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, before serving personalized advertising to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.
Kreyts does not currently operate such a platform, so no consent dialog is shown and personalized advertising is not available for those regions under Google’s own policy — traffic without certified-platform consent is eligible only for non-personalized or limited ads. If you are in one of those regions, the opt-out links above remain the way to control personalized advertising across sites.
Kreyts stores the account you create, the identities and masks belonging to it, the content you publish, and the follows, reactions and saves you make. Masks are topic-scoped pseudonyms: their link to your account is held server-side and is not readable by other users or by anything running in the page.
You can export your data or delete your account from settings. Deleting an account anonymizes the content associated with it.
Kreyts does not run a browser analytics SDK. There is no page-view tracking, no session recording and no analytics cookie. A small number of product events are recorded server-side, keyed to an account and never to a mask, so that masks stay unlinkable.
