On a plant label, "full sun" means at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, ideally more. "Partial sun" / "partial shade" means roughly 3–6 hours, and "full shade" means under 3 hours of direct sun (but not total darkness). Observe where shadows fall across a full day before placing sun-hungry plants.
Water deeply and less often rather than a little every day — this encourages roots to grow downward and makes plants more drought-resilient. The reliable test is the soil, not the calendar: push a finger about 3–5 cm in; if it is dry at that depth, water. Most established outdoor beds need roughly 2–3 cm of water per week including rain.
